All Better….

Thank you for your well wishes – they worked, I am now well, other than a bit of a sniff. Having Covid was an experience – it was like having a cold and the flu at the same time, the one blessing was that although it was intense it was also short lived. It felt like it went on forever but in reality I was only glued to the sofa for about a week. My advice if you catch it is to do absolutely nothing until the worst of it passes and that way you will probably heal faster. Most people already know this! I was thankfully very late to the party.

Meanwhile, I am trying to get back into calligraphy and being a little bit creative. I feel very bland and unimaginative – but I managed to make this….

Car Crash

And when the sun came out [briefly] it was time to make hay leaving the view green and pleasant…

Pretty Colours

Moody…

As a bonus, and because I’ve been sifting through old photographs, here is a picture of me that I managed to develop from a very old negative with help from a iPad app.

Someone give her an After Eight…or a Campari

Happy Easter!

I have finally succumbed to the dreaded lurgy, and have tested positive for The Covid. Please forgive my lack of blog visiting – my head hurts and I feel dizzy. Bad throat, though not too bad, and thankfully no coughing.
Typical though – first beautiful weekend in the UK and I am glued to the sofa.
I will be back doing the rounds soon.
Sxxx

Might as well write until September….

…because September is when I choose whether to renew my WordPress subscription. I may choose not to as I don’t feel I write enough posts to warrant the outlay. I am off the boil, or just plain off!
Curiously, I do keep a written journal, and now, an online journal. What the hell do I write there that I can’t write here??? Am I writing about the seething hotbed of sex and depravity in my locality? Am I disclosing hitherto unknown secrets about friends, neighbours, family, and Prince Harry? Am I a closet collector of fetish rubber wear??? Shall we see?? Shall I publish today’s entry???

Today’s Prompt: What is something I love about this season?

So far the season of Spring has not been very seasonal! Obviously I enjoy the extra light in the evenings and the sound of joyful birdsong in the mornings – or I would do if we had any.
This is a photograph from today:-

This looks more like December than April. It is giving me Christmas vibes. It is making me hanker for a fire in the wood burner and a warm blanket on the sofa. It is not making me want to shop for t-shirts and shorts.
I have just added my photographs to the BBC Weather Watchers site – everywhere else in Devon has blazing sunshine!!! What’s that all about??? I swear I even felt a spit of rain when I was out. It’s not fair!!
What I love about the season? The promise of summer, but 2023 isn’t yet promising me anything special.

There, not that exciting! You should all feel very grateful that I keep my blathering to myself.

A Birthday Post featuring Mr Devine…..

….with a nice knitting pattern resulting in World peace. In September 2022 Devine was coerced into a writing collaboration with Ms Scarlet Ambrosia Blue [1917 – ?]. This arrangement proved to be beneficial for them both as each time a new instalment was published readers would clamour to their blogs desperate to be the first to leave a pithy insightful comment, and perhaps be instrumental to furthering the plot. However, the collaboration was short lived and ended when Blue cried foul play. During the climax of their epic adventure Devine turned Blue into a mouse thus rendering her a mere squeak in the Blogosphere. With hindsight it is clear that Blue was suffering from the delusions that would later become the inspiration for her Mogwashian Opus [paperback only – £0.99, Amazon] – as with all of Blue’s work it contained too many commas, lacked a perceivable structure and a satisfactory conclusion, and, to make matters worse, it had an irrelevant, long-winded chapter about using cheese as an insulation material.

In March 2023 Inexplicably Devine had another birthday, specifically on the 22nd March, although it was seen to spread well into April, and popped up again in both August and November for an encore. By this time Devine was at his most creative and influential; aided and abetted by his new familiar, Bertie, Devine found fresh impetus to watch science-fiction based visual media whilst ensconced on a long upholstered seat with a back and arms that provided physical ease and relaxation. It was from this place of comfort that Devine was kidnapped and then trapped in what he colourfully described as the ‘Rubber Ducky Room’. This room would become the blueprint for Devine’s much lauded….

An Unimportant Announcement…

This is not a post. This is an announcement to say that a new Wonky Words comment box is open for valued members of the Blogosphere to type words into. As ever, discussion will vary wildly, and will feature in depth analysis on controversial subjects such as:-

Cheese – Is it simply dangerous, or just another cost effective way to insulate the loft?

Pharmaceuticals – A healthy alternative to bar snacks, or just a long word beginning with ‘P’?

Knicker liners with secure fit technology – innovative, or just an expensive upgrade on a wad of loo paper?

Old blog posts – should they be left to rot in the dim and distant past, or brought up to date and refurbished for when you’re short of new ideas?

Fine Filter, No Filter

But which one is the fine dust filter???? I am a grown up, I should know these things without having to watch an American demonstrate such things on YouTube – and if I do have to watch a Youtube then I will have to listen to 10 meters of waffle to find the 6mm of information I need to fully understand the mechanics of the dust container on my vacuum cleaner.

I have had this particular vacuum for well over a year. A flashing light started flashing whilst cleaning today so I decided to browse the user manual. Ugh. I am supposed to wash parts of this vacuum cleaner???? I am not good at cleaning. My first vacuum cleaner did its stuff for almost 15 years before I realised it even had a filter. I sometimes wonder if there are other things that I am supposed to clean, but never have. How would I know?

This is the diagram for the dust container:-

It’s a good job I didn’t act on my instinct, which was to rip off the fine dust filter [yay! found it!] in fig.35 and expect to be able to buy a new one. Fig. 40 is still a little bit of a mystery, but I’m sure it will become crystal clear if I hold it under a running tap. Fig. 39 is going to result in a tantrum – those lock/unlock situations always do. I’m sure you don’t want photographs of what I am looking at in reality – you would either laugh, or recoil in horror.

Anyhow, it is January. I always try a little bit harder in January, meaning I will blog regularly for two weeks and then fizzle out.
