…because September is when I choose whether to renew my WordPress subscription. I may choose not to as I don’t feel I write enough posts to warrant the outlay. I am off the boil, or just plain off!
Curiously, I do keep a written journal, and now, an online journal. What the hell do I write there that I can’t write here??? Am I writing about the seething hotbed of sex and depravity in my locality? Am I disclosing hitherto unknown secrets about friends, neighbours, family, and Prince Harry? Am I a closet collector of fetish rubber wear??? Shall we see?? Shall I publish today’s entry???
Today’s Prompt: What is something I love about this season?
So far the season of Spring has not been very seasonal! Obviously I enjoy the extra light in the evenings and the sound of joyful birdsong in the mornings – or I would do if we had any.
This is a photograph from today:-
This looks more like December than April. It is giving me Christmas vibes. It is making me hanker for a fire in the wood burner and a warm blanket on the sofa. It is not making me want to shop for t-shirts and shorts.
I have just added my photographs to the BBC Weather Watchers site – everywhere else in Devon has blazing sunshine!!! What’s that all about??? I swear I even felt a spit of rain when I was out. It’s not fair!!
What I love about the season? The promise of summer, but 2023 isn’t yet promising me anything special.
There, not that exciting! You should all feel very grateful that I keep my blathering to myself.
Ugly looking cloud, that. You should decant yourself to Batarde Towers old thing – it’s cracking the flags here. As you well know it was the annual Aunt Sally Memorial Pigeon Poisoning Expedition yesterday, and a jolly decent bag it was too, presaging a fine dry summer with no need for galoshes or the waterproof latex onesie.

In your dreams, Mr Batarde!!!! I foresee rain and more rain for Devon, although next week is supposed to be glorious – I’ll believe it if I can photograph it.

Mr Mags – This cloud is a mean bugger. And it has our names on it.

Oh dear…tis rather gray looking, isn’t it? But I agree about the bird song. It’s one of many things I enjoy about the coming of spring…and watching them forge for nesting material.

Mistress B – It cheered up a little bit in the afternoon, and it’s supposed to be gorgeous tomorrow. I keep an eye on my chimney pots – I do like Rooks and Jackdaws, but I don’t want them making an unsightly blockage with their nesting materials!

It’s not as warm as it should be, but it’s been glorious here today! We’ve been gardening all afternoon, and got loads done.

PS I’m very glad Blogger is free – but I’ve invested so much time on it, and have built such an archive, that I probably would subscribe!

I am looking forward to some sunshine tomorrow, Jon, and Easter looks like it’s going to be nice. I might snap on my gardening gloves and tell the brambles who’s boss.
I don’t know what to do with this blog. I have given myself the deadline of September – kind of a use it or lose it ultimatum. If I lose it I will decamp back to Blogger.

A bit chilly in my little corner and still too dark to see what the day looks like. I loved your misty meadow in Melanie’s March “sky” collection and I’ve just come from Maddie’s blog! Nip across and take a deep breath…it’ll do you a world of good.
I shall attempt to do something with my blog later, if the shopping run hasn’t flattened me!

Dinah – Yes, Maddie’s Spring is a vast improvement on my Spring!! Actually, today is shaping up rather well. It feels warmer, though not quite warm enough to take off my vest.
I look forward to your blog post!

A blanket and a fire to reward yourself after t-shirts and shorts shopping, perhaps? One has to take things as they come even if we might grumble about it sometimes. Last week was really very nice and I overworked in the yard to the point I could barely move. It is just as well this weekend has kept me curled up indoors with a blanket. There are so many books to finish reading and to write! I agree on the good things about this time of year, more daylight and the birds. except that I’ve got a lot of noisy peckers around here, woodpeckers that is, three types. The males are already looking for their loudest instruments in exuberance for mating season.

Mels – Do not overwork!!!! Honestly, what are you like??!!!
I need to have a fire in the wood burner to dry out the chimney.

I’m too young not to work, we’ve got bills and healthcare to pay for. I’m sandwiched between taking care of a child and parents who have debilitating diseases. I’m also trying to build a better future for people and the planet. Some people might try to talk me out of it, but it’s my passion and gives me energy to face each day.

Mels – Remember to take care of yourself as well – you have to be match fit to tackle everything on your pitch – which sounds like it could be overwhelming.

Keep writing and writing, way past September!
Where did you get the prompt from?

Kylie – I am using the One Day journal app – it gives me a daily prompt. It’s made by Automattic the same people who made WordPress.com. WordPress also has a daily prompt. I feel proper prompted and prodded into writing something. Sometimes I reply with some very silly answers, some of which I just may publish at a later date!

It is much harder to write to be read, I reckon, I write screeds every day in various journals but none of it is interesting enough for publication.
We had the first sunshine of the year yesterday, and it’s glorious today, but still cold in the shade. X

Eryl – True!! I like the freedom of writing off the top of my head without the worry of whether what I’ve written is readable.
I write with a pen first thing before doing anything else, and then throughout the day I add to the online journal – I’m finding it such fun.
you are much better with the prompts than I am; the other day I simply replied: What do you mean??
Yay, some sunshine here today!!

I’ve thought of trying the pen first method. I think you put more thought into getting it right. Hmmm…. good idea Miss S!

It’s snowing here. I’m going to find my blankie and curl up on the couch.
Please continue to write for us on whatever platform I can manage to use without consulting a manual or channelling Mr. Lax, my late IT Consultant.

Mistress MJ – SNOWING????? Still? Crikey, how come Canadians are so tolerant? And Australians, come to that. I would be whinging at a level I’ve never yet reached!
If I give up on WordPress I would return to Blogger – then I really would have something to whinge about!

Goodness, I hope you don’t decide to give up blogging altogether. Several of my blogmates have just disappeared without trace. I shall be blogging to myself soon.
Your pic certainly looks like December. It’s not much better in Belfast. Yes, all you can do in this sort of weather is wrap up warm and watch yet more TV dramas. Oh, and stock up on cherry bakewells.

It’s nicer today, Nick, I feel a bit more awake! Don’t worry if I give up this blog I will shuffle over to Blogger and waffle there instead – but only once a month. Worrying when bloggers go awol without a hint of what happened to them.
