Iam under attack from spammers, and receiving over 100 spam comments per hour. Apparently an IP address from the Ukraine has me in their sights and will not leave me alone. Is it because I went all official in my previous post? Did the word ‘crumpet’ lure them to my door? Are they desperate for crumbs? Are they desperate for information regarding the Battle of Hastings and feel cheated when they arrive here to find nothing of the sort? Should I fight them off with Twiglets? I don’t know. I am considering going private to shake them off. If I do, it won’t be for long.
I have also felt under attack from the rain as every time I set foot out of the house I get a good soaking. I AM NOT HAPPY. I mean, isn’t it supposed to be June? I have been lighting the wood burner in the evenings, I know, crazy talk.
News From the Mantelpiece
Bits of paper have been stuck together, there has been gilding, and there has even been a quick flourish of calligraphy…
Paying the bills with a flourish…
And here is my offering for Sunday Music:-
Have a safe and happy week! And stay dry!
I am thinking of changing my career. I believe I have a knack for photography and have been encouraged by Charmaine’s warm, enthusiastic words. She has described my efforts as fitting within the ‘Modern Abstract’ genre of photography and reckons I could even be accepted by the venerable institute of Not On the High Street as a place to display and sell my wares.
Here is my latest effort….
What is it????
I am not so sure that I should give up my calligraphy aspirations, but Charmaine is adamant that she would be happy to take care of all my nibs and stationery supplies, I almost suspect that she is after my pens, nibs and ink and her encouragement may not be entirely selfless.
Anyhow, here is my most recent calligraphic effort….
Finally…. Fleetwood Mac…. what’s that all about???
AND…. surely this is Karen Carpenter….But it can’t be…
More quirky calligraphy envelopes!! Well, I got a bit bored – what with all the rain and everything, what is girl to do other than huddle in her dining room and practice her calligraphy betwixt taking mouthfuls of cake????
Posy Flowers – Again!
I like writing this type of calligraphy as it’s quick, effective and creates an instant impact on coloured envelopes…. BUT… although this blog is called Wonky Words, I also write sensible words too… in normal copperplate. Every week I make time to practice my copperplate properly… correct spacing, correct letter angles [yes I rule up my paper properly too] and I refer to my copperplate books – I originally learnt from Mastering Copperplate Calligraphy by Eleanor Winters, this I think, gave me a good grounding for move lively pointed pen work.
The Elegant Elsie Mophead…
I am a little bit besotted by my capital ‘K’ on this envelope and have tried to replicate it since… just can’t get it exactly the same… damn it!
Anyhow… ’til next week…
