Another Tale From The Scrapbook….

Apologies for my absence, I have been busy with summer and taking photos for the Grand Gardening Competition in October, or sooner??
I have also made a collage, yay!!! I only seem to get into ‘making mode’ if I need to send something for a birthday, or for a calligraphy exchange. I don’t necessarily know the recipient of my calligraphy exchanges – I hope that I never cause offence and the worst I achieve is a quizzical frown. I receive such beautiful post – there is something within me that finds it impossible to reciprocate with a colourful flourish. Ack.
The other day I was pondering my early creative influences, and I came up with Pipkins; I remember my sister saying it was creepy, but I loved that moth-eaten Hare.

Anyhow, my collage!

Latest collage featuring a typo from The Guardian newspaper in 1979.

Ack. Calligraphy is a beautiful art, and then I go and bring it down to my level.

I loved Pipkins – Hartley Hare was the campest lagomorph this side of Bugs Bunny!

Also love the collage, and the fabulous obituary snippet 😂. Jx

PS Can’t wait to see your pics for the Grand Garden Photos Event (if, that is, Mr DeVice gets around to it – he’s been awol since 10th August)…

Jon – Thank you! I will see if Hartley Hare is on YouTube; apparently the man who voiced him went on to do the Queen’s voice on Spitting Image. We know a good thing when we see it!
I have had digital communications with Mr Devine, he has Uncle duties during the school summer holidays, and his allotment is being harvested as we speak, so he should be back for the big competition. I have also tried to contact Mitzi as I’m getting worried about her now.

Indeed. I hope she hasn’t gone for good – I do recall her saying she was moving down south – Dorset? I mean, that’s a long way, and very stressful if that’s the case.

How did I miss Pipkins??!!!Oh, yes, I moved back to the Far-Flung Colonies in ’79. But I do remember loving Tony Hart and Vision On, which, apparently, was aimed at hearing-impaired kids. We (the UK) did some great TV back then! I was brave enough (tipsy enough?) once to do something at an open -mic night.

Dinah – We did have the best children’s programmes! The Clangers! Captain Pugwash; The Magic Roundabout; and Jackanory. I think I’d rather watch these again than some of the things they describe as entertainment.
AND, we had better typos back then.

Ahem. The Garden Photos Event will be taking place in November – although Terrifying Triffidery is right at the end of October. Still, glad to hear that you are snapping away, Ms Scarlet.

Splendid collage! I’m often partial to a black-and-yellow combo with a bit of Eurostile thrown in. (And I was never that fond of Mabel Wildebeests-Legges that much, either.)

Thank goodness you have shown your face Mr Devine!! Now we can focus on the missing Mitzi Moo, I’m sure she’d have an opinion on Mabel, actually, she probably wrote the obit.

Hahahaha!! Thank you, Kylie! It takes a lot of chocolate as well.
I Googled Mabel, and could not find a jot of information about her, she seems to have been deleted from history as the obit writer wanted. Shame, I bet she was a character, albeit one you wouldn’t want to meet!

I hope I haven’t caused you too much distress with my long absence, has it really been 4 months? Anyway, you’ll be relieved to know that I haven’t snuffed it (unlike poor Mabel) and I will be making a comeback in due course. Nothing has changed, I’m still banging Carmen’s head against a brick wall with this moving business, I’ve had offers on my place only to have them pull out, I was hoping to have moved this summer, the house I liked in Preston (Weymouth) has been sold, sadly.

I’ve been feeling too deflated with it all to blog.

Mitzi!!!!! We thought we had lost you, and yes, everyone will be relieved that you have surfaced!
Yeah, moving is tough, and the market is peculiar at the moment, I think. I was expecting us to be almost neighbours by now! I hope you manage to sell soon, I’ve moved twice in winter, it is doable.
I very much look forward to your grand reopening!

Mitzi!!!!! (Yes, I’ve copied Ms Scarlet, but it’s how I feel too.)
Sorry to hear of your moving disappointments. Still, at least Carmen sounds like she’s being of some use throughout it all.

One of my (many) complaints about WordPress is that I don’t see an option for deleting or editing my own comments. Perhaps there’s a way to do that but I can’t see it. Sometimes, that makes me hesitant to leave comments.

I’m not sure there is an editing facility for commenters to take their words back on WordPress – I can edit on the dashboard, but that’s about it. I’m sure it all used to be easier!

I think that’s more to do with the device you use to look at my blog (or your glasses prescription), my dear. My blog looks the same as anyone else’s on the home PC, the Madam’s laptop, and the work one too. Jx

I like your collage. That headdress on that woman reminds me of the wrapping you put on after washing your hair. Hey I finally wrote another post. Maybe I’ll have 3 posts for the whole year if I’m lucky.

Hooray! Calligraphy! I like it! Alas, my sewing endeavors are much like your calligraphy. I’m so sick of tripping over my fabric stash I’ve outlined an attack plan to put it to use. I had to look up who/what a Pipkin was and who Hartley Hare is. He looks a bit too well loved, perhaps. Or spun too much in the wash cycle.
