Attention….Attention!!!!!!

Well how bloody quiet is it in my blog reader????? The only person making a daily effort is dear Jon! Nick pops up once or twice a week, but the rest of us are a complete blogging shambles – we are flickering in and out of the Blogosphere like a dying candelabra, and we are about to be snuffed out if we are not careful.

I will try to make amends. Since January I have made a few collages, including this one that has finally reached Maddie….

….I wasn’t sure if it was going to arrive – I send these collages out there never knowing for sure if they’ll reach the intended target. I’m pleased this one did as it’s one of my favourites.

And for my Copperplate Special Interest Group recipients, I sent the following….

….a self involved madam….

….a potential murder suspect….

….and an unbroken ink bottle….

….with added flashy calligraphy.

Obviously some of these little narratives are more melodramatic than others. I am liking the ink bottle for being short and sweet and for not meriting the need to feature in a novel.
I hope my CSIG friends don’t find my offerings too peculiar!

In other news: It is Spring. It is warming up. I have shaved my legs. I will be back on Sunday to share something riveting and not to be missed – though I haven’t yet made up my mind what that will be.

I was away without wifi for a couple of weeks, but I’m certainly not the blogger I was, unfortunately. I don’t find myself very interesting and I wish I could be fun again. I should work on it.

I have also lost my mojo, Z, and I wish I could be fun again. I am going to try to give my blog a little more effort in an attempt to help me focus on making stuff. I think the present times we’re living through need a little creativity in every shape and form. I’ve just got to get into the habit of turning up and pressing ‘publish’.

Something riveting? You’ve not finally mended the coal scuttle, have you?
Anyhoo … if the CSIG is anything like the Spencerian Study Group, they probably will think you’re peculiar and be sweetly unperturbed. They’ll hate you a teensy bit for your envelopes, though. Competitive business penpersonmanship, never mind what everybody says. 🙂

Batarde – Well there’s an idea – Metalwork! I haven’t done any since school.
Haha!! I am stumped for a reply! But yes penpersonage is a competitive sport, hence why I keep my head down!

Those young ladies who cross their letters (in the fallen but unbroken ink bottle collage – which is rather splendid, by the way) – What does it mean? What is this practice of crossed letters?? Why don’t I understand???

Um. As for this blogging malarkey, I keep meaning to resume in earnest, but I am thwarted at every turn (nearly). I aim to post something this weekend – just like you – but I suspect that it won’t be rivetting, and will be very easy to miss.

Mr Devine – Batarde could explain crossed letters better than I! Back in the days of Yore, paper used to be scarce so a letter writer would write diagonally across, and then diagonally the other way, to save paper. I will see if I can find an example as my explanation is not good!
I was determined not to be thwarted today! And I look forward to your post at the weekend.

Yes, alas, when Spring is sprung I am on the run! I am trying to write my book, dealing with a health issue and just committed to 4hrs a week volunteering with the City as I try to work my way into a job. Just because I feel old doesn’t mean I’m old enough to retire. I work in the yard when I can trying to tame the weeds and add more native plants while battling pollen allergies and scaring bears away. Just last week I had to herd four deer out of the way to get my kid to school. You know they’ll charge or kick if you try to move them along too quickly. I am in need of a proper pioneer woman’s skirt, but then , when was the last time I even wore a skirt? I’m cargo pants or jeans girl. One can never have too many pockets!

You sound very busy, Melanie! I am exhausted from reading your comment. I am at an age where I have an after lunch slump that lasts a couple of hours! Nothing gets done.
The deer round here flee as soon as you make any sort of movement – I like watching them watching me!
Good luck with your book! And I agree – no skirts here either!

Crossed letters! I had a friend who moved away and we used to do things like this. I don’t know why, but we had to use different ink otherwise the thing was too hard to decipher! And then we had a craze for “long letters” We’d glue strips of foolscap til we had about a metre of paper to write on. I still draw silly cartoons on some of my letters.

It seems like crossed letters will be my next challenge, Dinah! They’d actually look pretty good on a collage. I used to draw little cartoon dogs on my thank you letters, and bunnies!

I do adore your collages, Ms Scarlet!

As you are more than aware, I may post a blog every day, but it’s hardly Pepys’ Diary; mainly a load of old random shit that pops into my head… Each to their own, I say! Jx

Thank you, Jon! You’re a canny blogger as you have a workable framework, so you know what you’re doing each day – all I have is intentions (good, bad, and sometimes very silly!). I wish I had the discipline to keep my blog running smoothly.

“dying candelabra” – I’ve never thought of myself as any thing that elegant. Very nice collages. I suspect you have more fun with those than posting on the blog.

Bill – I was going to write ‘dying candles’, but then I acknowledged that we are all connected so ‘candelabra’ came to mind!!
Sometimes the collages go very wrong, and I can stew about them – but they are on a par with solving a puzzle, and that is satisfying.

A wonderful post! But who dare even try to snuff us all out?? I say Codfangers!

I hope to be back to regular hilarity or otherwise next week. And I must thank you again for the lovely, and sure to be treasured collage. I treasure things like this deeply when someone has a talent like yours and has taken the time to produce such. I am currently seeking the perfect frame for both.

Mistress B – Thank you, I’m so pleased it arrived!! Yes, it’s been too quiet without you – I was beginning to worry that those damn shorts are cursed – I’d say get rid of them as soon as possible!

Goodness, 221 (at least) letter-writing hints. I had no idea letter-writing was such a hazardous and demanding pursuit. How remiss of me to use paper that might not be stain-free or neatly folded. As for the illegible scribble that I inflict on unsuspecting recipients….

Nick – Letter writing is a complicated business! Not for the faint hearted – be grateful that the computer can at least save your blushes re the illegible scribble.

After a month of no posts, I’ve just posted. However, it’s a post about a blogging intermission. I’ll continue to make the rounds of visiting other bloggers whenever I can. I would miss you all, otherwise! So the rest of you need to keep up your end of things while I slack off.

    Lovely collages, by the way.
