Happy Birthday, Mr Devine!!!

Where have I been? Why have I not posted since the last time I posted? I have been….. incapacitated. I had my vaccine shot last Saturday, and have been very sleepy ever since. To be fair, I often sleep through March and April, so maybe not a vaccine side effect at all. I did have chills, and a very mild headache for a couple of days. But that was it.

Meanwhile, when conscious, I have been preparing for Mr Devine’s Birthday, which is tomorrow. I had big ideas for a celebration. Firstly, there was a novel to be written; a film starring Aidan Turner in a spaceship to be made; a tribble to be wrapped and mailed; several cormorants to be trained as butlers; a ripped gardener to be employed; and a tinfoil creation to be created. Sadly, due to all the sleep and a sore arm, I had to settle for a small idea instead….

Something new for the sideboard±

Happy Birthday, Mr Devine!! I’m sure you can shrink this so that it doesn’t overwhelm your sideboard. To be fair there was supposed to be some gold, but my gold dust looked like a heap of yellowing dandruff in my photographs, so I abandoned that particular idea.

A tune for the birthday boy….

That’s a fab rendition of the Star Trek theme – we have a rather startling version of it by Nichelle Nicholls aka Lieutenant Uhura herself in our collection! [As featured here.]

Many happy returns IDV for tomorrow! Jx

Jon – Oh my word, that’s even more surreal than I imagined! Erm… I’m not going to ask about William Shatner albums as I feel that my ears have suffered enough.

Drat! I was about to “Yay! First!” but Jon has beaten me to it. I knew I should have had my precognition switched on…

Anyway: Thank you, Ms Scarlet! I love the ‘something new for the sideboard’ – Very much! I shall find a space for it on the Big Day. (I’m sure I would have loved the “dandruff” version, too)
As for your sleep-and-sore-arm-thwarted ideas, rather coincidentally they feature in our continuing adventure on/over the Cusp (except for the tribble and the cormorant butlers – although I’m sure I can squeeze them in somewhere) which, if I pull my finger out, I’ll publish tomorrow.

    P. S. The tune is just right! Thank you!

Happy Birthday, Mr Devine! Hound rather stole my thunder, and then my editor started yelling: Go now. Now, before any element of surprise has completely evaporated.
The dandruff version was just plain miserable – it was supposed to look like an exploding Ferrero Rocher chocolate, but didn’t. I even tried real gold, but that looked silly too. Then I was pondering black and white, just as Hound let the cat out of the bag, thus ruining my chances of being first with the birthday greetings, damn it.
The Star Trek theme seems to lend itself well to classical music! Glad you liked it!

Well, I *WAS* surprised by this post! (and delighted with the sideboard item)
I didn’t think anyone would see Hound’s comment on that now week-old post, and I certainly wasn’t expecting anything, so this is just wonderful!

Awww…. Not quite as spectacular as a trip over the cusp! Maybe one day you’ll have an adventure in the Mogwash Arms, whilst wearing an abundance of spandex and a frilly blouse.

    Happy Birthday Mr. DeVice
I find the trekkie fans more interesting than the show itself. I have watched a bit of the many shows but the reports/stories of trekkies are more interesting

Bill – I know that some Trekkies like dressing up and going to conventions… but, I have obviously not heard the tales that you have, any chance of a link to an interesting story?

I don’t have personal Trekkie story but they are featured on the news especially around their conventions. The cosplay trend certainly includes Trekkies and I find cosplay sorta strange. I think of it as taking Halloween to the next level. There was story a few years about a group of cosplay people would meet at a bowling alley in a nearby town. Strange group of people I thought. Here’s a clip of a convention report. One of women says she gets an excuse to “fly her freak flag”. I guess whatever rocks your boat.

      Thank you, lisleman!

Years and years ago, I went to a convention here in the UK but wasn’t brave enough to do cosplay. It was something I regretted. However, a few years alter, I did adorn myself with Trill spots for a carnival in my home town (I wore rather more clothes than these two, though)

I’m sleep-deprived and water-logged and in a different hemisphere and also on the other side of the IDL…so I’m not sure whether I’m too early or too late for…um, what was it again…Oh yes! Mr Langshanks’ birthday. Happy birthday to the inexplicable one.

Dinah – I wish I could send you some of my sleep – I have notched up 12 hrs out of the last 24.
As for waterlogged – yep, still drying out here.

Yes, yes. I too being in the Pacific time zone am perptually late to whatever the rest of the world is doing. I’m still learning about Mr Devines likes and desires and had thought to present a Klingon Opera video, but finding the colors too dark for such a celebration have opted instead for this delicious scene from the movie Marie Antoinette (2006) full of luscious fabircs and cakes. We shall not speak of the shoes unless Mr. Devine wants to wear them. I shall post this now and head over to his place. https://youtu.be/jfyL8qAxvPU

Yes, this one was much more festive and since we were recently speaking of cakes it seemed most appropriate. Of course, now I’m tempted to go in search of a nearby bakery, which my waistline surely does not need!

Hey, this fillum up there fits very well with the memoirs of St.Simon I am just reading (the court of Louis XIV 1680-idh to maybe 1710) – anyway, let there be shoecakes for IDV !
