Because I won the first ‘Did I Win Yet?’ competition, way back in January 2020, hosted by the lovely Mr Devine HERE, I now have the joyous pleasure of hosting the second! Yay!!

So what is the ‘Did I Win Yet?’ competition? It is simply a way to honour our old friend Mr Lax. And this competition/award can take any format I fancy! I am so relieved that it doesn’t have to be a quiz – I can instead make it easy. Thank goodness, as I think we have all been a little mentally overtaxed this year.

To win the ‘Did I Win Yet’ award 2021 please complete the following sections:-

Section 1 – The Quiz Bit

Q1. Many years ago Ms Scarlet had a dream about Mr Lax. In this dream Mr Lax instructed Ms Scarlet to do what? Was it:

a) Feed his cats

b) Mind the gap

c) Feed somebody else’s cats

d) Mind the cranberry sauce

Q2. What does LX mean?

a) No, seriously what does LX mean? Did we ever find out?

b) It means XL

c) Something to do with engineering

d) Nothing in particular

Section 2 – The Creative Bit

For this section I would like you to write out your favourite quote as adventurously as you dare; place it on a chair of your choice; photograph it; and then send this picture to me for me to examine with my keen eye for all types of writing.

That’s it!! This is all you have to do to enter the ‘Did I Win Yet?’ competition!! We’ve had gardening competitions, so it’s about time we had a handwriting compo!

The competition is open as soon as I publish this post. The deadline is 10th January 2021. The winner/s will be announced on 17th January 2021. Please send your entries to scarlet@wonky-words.com. Please remember to include responses to both sections. The prize is the honour of hosting the next ‘Did I Win Yet?’ competition; the exclusive right to put the following on your sideboard:-

      Mr Batarde – Am I looking for correct answers? Hmmm. Well, your written quote may score so highly that it might mitigate any incorrect guesses. I am just saying, nay, I am advising, and hinting strongly 🙂

        Mr Batarde – Well, there does have to be a chair, and a bit of writing… and a quote of some sort…. but no not really any rules..

    And on a side note in your regards to a pagoda cake comment…. Maybe we can get Mr. DeVice to make one…a huge one, that I can pop out of the top of and do a drag routine, in full Geisha garb for your birthday some year. Yes…..I can see it now…..

      Rimpy – I have the first email you sent, about the failed delivery, etc, but not an email with a beautiful attachment of handwriting. And this is why avoid running competitions. *Makes note not to do it ever again after the FGES are done with*

    Oh! You did it! And didn’t you do it well?! I am excited beyond measure for this competition/award, and my mind is swirling with ideas for the creative bit.
    I am less excited about the quiz bit because I’m not sure of the answers… (you may imagine a petulant foot stamp here)

      Mr Devine – I know! I’m shocked I did it too. I was thinking about Mr Lax, and I wanted to honour his memory, so I pushed through my apathy et voila!
      I already have Rimpy’s entry! Bless him, and am very much looking forward to seeing everyone else’s.

        Dinah – Sorry to read about the funeral. Please don’t rush yourself, you have plenty of time to enter AND, if everyone submits all at once then I’ll be deprived the joy of nagging people to do it!

    I love contests, so yes, I’ll do it, if only to say “Did I win yet?” Of course, I now have to wait for my phone to be repaired so I can take a decent picture! Or indecent, I haven’t decided that part yet, sweetpea! xoxo (as in asking for a friend)

    Ooh, a competition! Will there be a glittering award-giving ceremony at the Dorchester, or do funds only run to a faulty mike at the local church hall?

      Nick – I hope you’re not still struggling with the WordPress glitches?
      And yes, there will be a socially distanced award ceremony in Dorchester and people will get very drunk and fall over. I will wear a tiara and my best wellies and everyone is invited. Obviously this is a fantasy event and I didn’t actually post such a silly reply. Maybe in 2024?

    Where were we?Oh, yes, a funeral. And after that many old friends reconnected and then I completely lost the plot. Did we have a plot? Have I won yet?
    I’m sure I said something snappy about chocolate.Did I?
