I bring pictures! I bring calligraphy! I bring tidings of joy! I bring a couple of heartfelt messages! I bring a toaster; a cuddly toy; a can of baked beans, and several vintage maps of Blackpool on a sunny afternoon. Never say I bring you nothing. But be aware that my hands are full.
Firstly, as promised, here are a couple of my Halloween collages:-
And a little calligraphy:-
My heartfelt messages:-
1) If you are a nighttime jaw clencher [bruxer] then NEVER EVER sleep on your back! Don’t even dream about it. It could possibly bring you no end of excruciatingly painful problems. And ruin your teeth.
2) Over the past two months I have become aware of some unusual activity in my blog stats, as in hits on old personal posts that rarely get read after they’ve been published and commented on. Posts featuring calligraphy are always popular, but the personal ones – not so much – years can go by before some poor soul alights on one of those, but recently they have been much sought after. At first I was flattered! Yay, somebody loves me! And then I stopped taking the drugs, and wondered if someone was profiling me for nefarious purposes? If so then please note that this blog is a minefield of misinformation, the truth is that I am 37 years old, I am French [hence the surname: Blue], and I live with five cats on an Alpaca farm somewhere near Newcastle. Just so you know.
3) If you are not profiling me for nefarious purposes and you are actually Aidan Turner, then don’t be a stranger – give me a call! My email address is right there!! There on the front page!!! Oh, for goodness sake HERE – at the bottom of the page!
Shall we have some Sunday Music? Why not? I have just finished watching The Queen’s Gambit on Netflix and now want to download the soundtrack.
Ooh! Peggy Lee. That really dates me, dunnit?
Aidan Turner? Hmm…I’m more of an Anthony Quinn girl. Oh F……….! That dates me even more.
Look, I should just leave quietly and take my medicine…

Dinah – Peggy Lee is ageless! Come back! I grant you permission to make a lot of noise.

La Lee is fantabulosa – we have quite a collection of her music on CD. And of course I have featured her many, many times on my blog… Jx
PS The calligraphy’s good too, but, ahem, it’s not Hallowee’n, Ms Scarlet.

I am very behind with things.

Blackpool? That’s down the road from my home town Lancaster (for all you profilers out there). My eldest sent me this postcard providing good advice about that town.
The Halloween cards are creepily beautiful. I love that script — Old English is it? There’s something about that script which militates against happiness. But I am happy that your teeth are getting better. Or that you’ve simply ground them to nothing.

I went to Blackpool once. In November.
It was dead… Jx

Jon – I love the poster too! Sadly, I have never been to Blackpool.

Looby – Is there a link for the postcard? I think it’s gone missing in action! Hopefully the profiler will go missing too, if that’s what’s going on.
Anyhow, thank you! I am not responsible for the gothic lettering on these collages – I wish! I can do a bit of Old English/Gothic, but I’m out of practice and I found this in a book – so I cheated 🙂

Bonjour, Mlle. Bleu! Ça va? Or is that “why aye”? Never did get a grip on French worth speaking of. Splendidly spooky Halloween collagery: jolly industrious I’m sure – says he who is contemplating the annual card sending ritual with horror. Bah. Anyway, mustn’t bang on. I’m sure you’ll have much better things to do than reading my drivel, like back combing the alpacas or something. Toodle-ooo!

Bonjour, M.Batarde, and ‘ow are you today?
Do you know what? This past week has been a week of revelations – I realised that I disliked Christmas for one reason, and do you know what that reason is? It’s not the awful music; it’s not the commercialism; it’s not to do with brussel sprouts, but is is to do with the pressure I put on myself to address my Christmas envelopes in calligraphy. So this year I’m not doing it. This year it’s Bic Biro all the way to Santa’s Grotto. I feel better now I’ve decided that.
Drivel? Ha!! I think I beat you hands down for drivel! The apacas can wait.

It’s utterly bloody, isn’t it? Bad enough trying to locate an address book, let alone monkeying about with envelopes, ink bottles, blotting paper, sealing wax, stamps and goodness knows what else. Far better to select one of those “six hours of relaxing Christmas music with crackly fireside sounds” videos that are cluttering up Youtube, fill a tankard with Whisky Mac®, and forget all about it ’til the situation becomes an emergency. Like last year, then.

Six hours! If only it was only six hours. Days it takes me if I write them in calligraphy, and it’s not like I have that many to write. Next year I’ll do them in August and get them over with.

“What a gay day!” “Didn’t they do well?” etc etc (Sorry to mix host catchphrases)
I do like your Hallowe’en collages – and the calligraphy (particularly the gold g with the flower-patterned paper).
I was listening to this when I read your Heartfelt Message #3, coincidentally. Has Aidan called yet?

Mr Devine – Shut that door!
Spooky coincidence, but sadly, no, Aidan is not on the phone. What is wrong with him?! Seems like I am indeed the target of a profiler with nefarious intentions. Did you read Mr Mags’s latest post re his email almost being hacked? We may have a lurker in our midst trying to break in.

Stephen King is right about the horrors.
Thankfully I’m not a nighttime jaw clencher, just an erratic sleeper who wakes up any old time my brain decides dreaming has got boring.
Oh, we all know you don’t live on an alpaca farm but in a leaky tent somewhere on Bodmin Moor. And we all know you’ll be 97 in January.
The Halloween collages are spiffing. But those poor women need rescuing urgently….

Nick – It is true, on Tuesdays I am 97, and on Sundays I am 37, or younger, depending on how creaky my knee feels.
A leaky tent!!! Let’s not get carried away!!
Meanwhile, I am so fed up with insomnia – I say that, but this morning I slept through until 5.20am, which was on par with having a lie in.

Glad you’re feeling better. Love the collages. Any chance you’re feeling in the mood for a bit of FGES action this holiday season?

Rimpy – Yes, Rimpy, I am going to do my best as I don’t really want to be holding on to the shorts throughout 2021! I have another commitment to get through first and then the shorts are next on the list.

I like the Halloween collages. We watched the Queen’s Gambit all the way through. This orphan’s unexpected chess skills provided her and her stepmom a path into a world few of us know. Very interesting and emotional story.
My favorite from the soundtrack was Georgie Fame’s song, “Yeh, Yeh”. The only thing I can say. I say yeh yeh. That’s what I say.

Bill – I loved it! It was brilliant, who knew that chess could be so addictive?! I play – I did used to win often, but I could rarely see beyond two moves!
Brilliant soundtrack!

Sorry, I do not know nothing about the Queen’s gambit – is it about Her Majesty or Mr Mercury ? It’s only Rock’n Roll, if you ask me.
I hope you are spared the grinding gnash, the boiling tooth, and anything else that may keep you away from your atelier. Even the Big Biro can lead to satisfying results in an experienced hand.

Mr Mags – Neither!! The Queen’s Gambit is set in the sixties and is about an orphan who grows up to be a chess master/ mistress! It’s wonderful.
I will be happy when the cards are done… in biro….and then I will feel guilty that I didn’t take care with nib and ink. I can’t win!

Ah, what a circulus vitiosus – damned if you do, damned if you don’t. You could cut through it with a healthy “Damn it ! I do what I want !” And the rest better be thankful for receiving something at all ! And you always can switch to Burgundy.
