Ihave made another one! To be fair this one was only supposed to be an experiment with materials, but I like how it decided to describe itself as project EUREKA! It’s made from mostly scraps, and other failed attempts at art, going back several decades. The corner stamp is from Mr Devine, and the jaunty piece of wrapping paper in the lower left corner is from Eryl.

Mistress B – Thank you! Mr Devine is a gem – but don’t tell him I said so, us Brits get terribly confused by open displays of affection; there would be blushing, nervous twiddling of thumbs, general uncomfortable shuffling, and neither of us look good in pink.

Anyhow, thank you!! And yes, I am not far from Appledore! I think I spent a birthday there once, possibly not mine as I usually want to go to Lynton. I have a bit of a soft spot for the North Devon Coast.

A prettier EUREKA! I never did see (Of course, it would have been prettier if I had made an effort with my handwriting…). And a very pretty Spring, too. Is this one of Devon’s famous muddy lanes?
As for the card, it was only a matter of time before someone unearthed Pharaoh Rocher from his Pyramid.

I saw earlier a comment back and forth over at Jon’s about the Shaft theme and how you were on the verge of recognizing it. I kept yelling “It’s Shaft, it’s Shaft….” at the screen, but this was the day after you’d actually been able to find it and besides, nobody listens to me in blogland.

Mitzi – Judith had very sturdy sandals, and, yes, she was very orange! And on ITV. I doubt she’d have wanted a raunchy theme tune.

I love that G! You make me want to abandon my keyboard and notepad, and reach for the glue. Have you ever made, or drunk, beech leaf noyau? I have a friend who makes it every spring and keep meaning to do the same but never get to the beechwood while the leaves are young enough. X

Thank you, Eryl! I know, it’s great fun, I spent yesterday reading a newspaper dated February 5th 1961 – I love this part of the process, anyhow Britain recorded 1,400 deaths from influenza in January 1961…. it’s these little details that get lost in BIG history that grab my attention. My fear is that I will become a hoarder of vintage newspapers and magazines – they are glorious – the adverts are just perfect!
I have never heard of Beech leaf noyau, so I have looked it up…. apparently it can be made from gin, white rum, or even vodka. I think it might be worth a try!

Vintage newspapers and magazines are delectable, you could always paper the downstairs loo with them if you end up with too many!
I’d never heard of Beech leaf noyau until John turned up with a bottle one Christmas, now I’m quite addicted to foraging for ingredients to flavour liqueurs. X

Some say the scientist Archimedes jumped out of his bath and ran naked through the streets of Syracuse, Sicily, shouting EUREKA after he noticed the water displaced by his body was equal to the weight of his body. It’s nice to aware of the Archimedes Principle before preparing for a bath.
