Sharing…..

How snotty does this line sound:-

…..actually I do write every day, but I choose not to share.

How rude!!! [It is from my previous post] I did not intend to be rude. Or snotty. Or anything in particular. We all choose what we share, usually the best bits, but today I am going to show you that you’re not missing anything exciting from me by sharing a page from my journal. ‘Journal’ makes it sound like I am penning intense, thoughtful thoughts; that I am secretly being philosophical; that I am sat beneath a willow tree on a summer’s day wearing a billowing white frock, and seeking inspiration from cloud formations. I am not. I am instead recording that I had fish finger sandwiches for tea….

Sharing….

….or Codfanglers, as Mistress Maddie would call them. Also worth noting is that when left to my own devices I spell ‘recommend’ quite differently to how I do when I’m typing, there may have been an ‘a’ in there somewhere. It was early, whatever.

In my next post I will be bringing you my notes from a visit to an art gallery; a shopping list; and an example of extreme fandom – all in the interests of sharing. Bet you can’t wait.

Jon – Yes, the change of the seasons is upon us. AGAIN. And that hot summer is a distant memory. Clocks go back soon. On the upside, we have Halloween to look forward to and lots of scary films on the telly box.
      Here, have a hanky.

To quote the aptly-named “Summer Winos” site: “Isn’t this how the Amazon Echo works? That Alexa thing? I’ve no idea, I haven’t got one. But if I did, I would program it to refuse to co-operate unless I shouted ‘Codfanglers’ in its electronic lughole. Does the Amazon Echo have electronic lugholes? There you go, there’s another potential episode title.”

“You snot-nosed little prig!” I’m sure this line is from somewhere, but I just don’t know who/where? I didn’t think you were snotty in the last post, but when you expose the line like that, it does appear quite rude, indeed. Hooray!
As for the spelling issue, I find point 3 of your list of things to be grateful for most amusing.

Your three stand-out moments certainly do stand out. I’d like to think that if the day comes that I have to do 1, I will do it matter-of-factly and without drama (as you seem to have done). I hope the experience of being elbow-deep in the contents of baby nappies may help with the practical nature of such a task. You deserved your fish-finger sandwich after that! (Were they posh fish fingers, or run-of-the-mill?)

P.S. When you got to the counting of three, I was expecting it to go something like this.

Mr Devine – Indeed, the line “You snot-nosed little prig!” could be from The Bad News Tour? This is what immediately springs to mind. I shall look it up.
Sadly I have no experience with babies or young children so I do feel completely out of my depth! I do have experience with poorly pets, but I think pets are easier. I am a bit rubbish in the hands on caring department, which is probably why I chose a caring moment as a detail!
I have tried the posh fish fingers and have dismissed them because the ones I had weren’t filleted properly – you rarely get bones with Bird’s Eye…. which sounds incredibly rude! Let’s hope it’s not chosen as a strap-line.

I am another of those slightly weird people who are grateful for dictionaries (and that poor, mad doctor in Broadmoor)…but I cannot seem to find “codfangler” in my OED.

I’m not very good at lists. I think it’s my mother’s fault as she would tell me what she needed from the shops and send me off, the items memorised in my little head. She told me that I had thousands (or maybe she said hundreds.Dozens?) of little brain cells and if I didn’t use them they would shrivel up and die and never be replaced and when I grew up my brain wouldn’t work properly.

    Mothers are always bloody right.

Same here, Dinah! Lists are a new thing for me, and I’m beginning to enjoy them. And bullet-points also have merit. My brain is no longer reliable, so many brain cells have taken flight. I wish I had some sort of accessible storage system that I could plug into my head – I’m sure that day will come!

I rather think I’d be pretty chuffed to have such a stylish journal to apply the ink to as well. Looking awfully impressive as per, speling notwithstanding. So nice to hear from you again, and two posts in as many days!! Good heavens, is this unprecedented? Thank you for sharing – especially that splendid word which has been added to the Batarde lexicon. Codwanglers! … well I never.

If I had to think about the three things in the morning I’m grateful for, it would be coffee, tabac – ‘scuse, coffee, *cough* sorry, and condensed milk, because coffee, you know …

The idea to put something that already is coated in breading between two slices of bread, is a little challenging – it’s all bread and the fish was carried by, some time in the distant past …

All the best m’dear. Astonishingly one usually finds all the necessary strength when it’s needed. Sadly it has no inclination to stay and vanishes shortly post festum, at least in my experience. But all is nice after the breakdown, promised. Take care, please.

I hope you are right, Mr Mags. I am feeling a little more normal this week, a brief respite I expect. Meanwhile, have you ever tried a fish finger sandwich with lashings of mayo? I think you should 🙂

Ah yes, they have diverse potatoe things, and of course a version of “fish’n chips”, but I can not say nothing about this last one, because I never have tasted it.
The good old “Bismarck” is where it all started. In my experience best avoided is the “Bremer”, it’s always a bit like “daily special”, aka “remnants of the week” …

I tend to think of things I’m grateful for all the time, especially as an antidote when I’m moaning about something. I’m very grateful for dictionaries, not to mention Wikipedia which I consult constantly. I’m also grateful for chocolate truffles. They’re an instant pleasure amidst the autumn gloom.

Your journal is enviably beautiful so I’m glad it contains fish finger sandwiches (which I am now craving horribly). I’m also grateful for dictionaries and ink, though I don’t use ink nearly as much as I used to, must try harder. X

Thank you, Eryl! I ought to read more… and to be fair, I’m quite good at writing in the journal, but my creative writing has been very sparse over the last few years. I miss it.

I have learned of Americans that record daily events on their monthly calendars. The box size is limited so you either are brief or use code.
About sharing – I enjoy sharing. I’ve learned things that could be useful from shared writing on blogs. However, I firmly believe you should not give into any pressure from blog readers to share when you don’t feel the urge to share. Also, whatever you do share it is what it is so opinions maybe offered but not accepted. It’s your blog – you are the master of it.
