Seriously Grumpy Now

Ifell over again! This time a not so innocent young dog WAS involved in my downfall. My knees are black, blue, light ochre, mauve, and there are also unseasonal shades of orange, but this might be to do with an ink spillage.

AND I AM FED UP. I am fed up with the weather. I feel as if I’m a character living within a cartoon and every time I leave my cartoon house another character comes along and throws an enormous bucket of water over me and then the whole audience watching the cartoon fall about laughing as I stand there dripping from eyelash to well manicured toenail. FED UP I tell you.

Meanwhile, I have completed ONE Loopy Letter. I have written about it on my Loopy Letter website. But, I am fed up with myself for not getting more done. It is an awkward time of year for me though, what with being preoccupied with towels, and hair dryers, and trying to stop the mud from coming through the front door. And when I am not doing battle with what other people fondly refer to as ‘the outside’ I am feeding a wood burning stove a large chunk of forest. Do you know how much dust a wood burner makes???? It looks so cosy on Pinterest – stylish, clean, tidy. The reality is a thick coat of dust over everything, and chips of wood and sawdust trodden into rugs and carpets. Apologies, I am whingeing.

Anyhow, here is a snippet of my first Loopy Letter…..

First Loopy Letter….

Coming Soon….

News regarding The Scarlet Blue Ten Years of Blogging Celebrations!! To be held in June 2018!! Watch the space…. but move aside swiftly if you see a grey cloud clutching a bucket of water heading towards you.

I was trying to write a comment/ suggestion to our problems, but the internet ate it. (Or, possibly, my finger hit a wrong key)
Anyway, what I was thinking is that since you and I appear to have each other’s weather, we should organise a swap.I could send you lots of hot air balloons, filled with the all the blistering wind I don’t need right now and you could fill bottles with water to send to me.(Not plastic ones, though, cos we now have Bottle Police)

And what’s this about a blogiversary??? Zoe (http://razorbladeoflife.co.uk/uncategorized/invitation-to-the-blog-party-plus-zs-day/) is holding her annual party in June, too.I wonder…

wanders off to find calenadr and airline schedules…

Oh Dinah, please can we have a weather exchange – even for just an hour!? I have water by the bucket full. Still raining here. Still fed up with it. Sulked all day yesterday.
I have a few interesting things planned for my blogiversary – there may even be some toilet posts! Remember when I used to review toilets? And definitely a book on a chair… and maybe something to do with adverts.

Winter in Devon is seriously depressing. I remember when I lived in Plymouth, it rained every single day from September to March. I think I rusted. And I thought Wales was bad… Jx

Raining every day from September to March – This I can believe, Jon!! It is truly depressing. Out here in the wilds it is mud for as far as the eye can see. I can’t wait until Spring.

Grumpy shlumpy. Perhaps you are some water-related deity ? A kind of nympha, an undine … a colourful person in any case. Ignore the dust, burn the rug, learn to love the mud – it’s best English soil after all !
I bet your collection of thermovests is impressive by now.

I have tried to accept and love the mud, Mr Mags – but there is just too much of it – I don’t have enough love to go round. I cleaned yesterday – I was at battle stations with it. I feel better for that.
I have 3002 thermovests now. Thank you for your interest.

Naughty Sid. That sort of thing is more in Asmodeus’ line, in my experience. May your bruises / ink stains fade apace. I look forward to the anniversary shindig with eager anticipation … should we bring a bottle?

I really should find out what happened to Asmodeus, Mr Batarde. He is a loose thread on this frayed blog. Perhaps I will tidy up the loose threads this year, though I doubt it so bring a bottle instead.

How intriguing! The Loopy Letter and the 10th anniversary, not the buckets of water over your head every time you go outside. I noticed (on the Loopy Letters page/blog) that “hissy fit” was mentioned in the letter. Was this yours due to the fall/dampness/wood burner dust, or someone else’s for reasons as yet unrevealed?

*clasps hands together in barely contained excitement for more Loopy Letters and tales from Mogwash*

*also tries not to get blown away – Norfolk has been entertaining winds of up to 80 mph, rather than rain*

Mr Devine – Oh my goodness, I have seen the news of the storms affecting Norfolk, Germany and Scotland. We are all suffering, but I whinge more 🙂
Yes… I probably should publish those Loopy Letters in full… I have something special for Valentine’s Day.

Our weather here would quickly freeze the bucket of water which hopefully would throw the antagonist off balance.
I don’t care for fireplaces or wood burning stoves. However, warmth is good.

Bill -I got caught in a hail storm yesterday morning, so perhaps the bucket of water did freeze! Stay warm and let’s look forward to the thaw.

Today in The New York Times it said that Moscow had exactly SIX MINUTES of sun for the entire month of December. Six minutes! They’re calling it Hillary’s Revenge. Ha. So it could be loads worse, I suppose. Sorry about the knees.

I, too, am coming up on 10 years! This March. All those words and what have we wrought? I shudder to think.

Monsieur Pain – Six minutes?!!!! I couldn’t handle that. Is this why Russians have a reputation for drinking and being aggressive?
Ten years. Crikey. How are you going to celebrate?

Well, we have and we haven’t… it depends on how you want to look at it! Remember when we first started blogging and how amazing it was to be communicating with people from all over the world. I feel I take that for granted these days. And there are a few significant things which neither of us would have achieved without blogging AND think of the fun we’ve had within this community. Having fun IS an accomplishment!!

Sorry to hear about your recent injury, so soon after the first one. Eat chicken soup. I’m wishing you a speedy recovery. And sorry about the chilly weather and the challenges of staying warm. Here’s to hoping sunshine comes your way. I hope you have some comfort foods and a good blanket to wrap yourself in and stay cozy. Be safe. Be warm. Get well soon.

In the meantime, enjoy some some music that’s best enjoyed with the rain.

I have been eating biscuits, Mr Swings. Indeed, my biscuit habit is getting out of control. I’ll sort it out in Spring. There is no point fighting Winter any more – I give in.
Thank you for your good wishes.

I’m watching Escape to the Country as I type, a couple of lesbians are looking for a place to live in Devon. Looks lovely. I have a bruised nipple, I caught it on the snib when I opened the shed door.

Mitzi – Escape to the Country makes everything look good – no sheds in sight, only outbuildings! And I bet the lesbian couple have a huge budget and that if the episode was filmed in a dreary month then every house they visit has a roaring fire… and a cleaner.

Yes, I’m pretty fed up with outside as well. It’s misbehaving on a grand scale and I’ve had quite enough of its shenanigans. Too much white stuff, too much frozen stuff, too much shivery stuff. No wood burner though, so no dust and wood chips to hoover up.

Nick – I kind of wish that the mud was frozen, then at least it would stay outside – but I get your drift. It is still raining… and the wood burner, despite the mess, is cheering the house up. I should stop whingeing.

They say that when Life gives you lemons, make lemonade. So what can you do with mud and dust? There must be something??? Mud facials? Take up pottery?

Only you could, in my opinion, make being fed up sound so charming. Needless to say, I hope the sun comes out soon, the need for forest eating stoves will diminish and roses will abound in every corner of your world but you will always make me smile regardless of your circumstances xx

Some days have passed since you posted this, so I hope your bruises have faded and you are back in full spirits. Outside, though, is a horror, I try to avoid it as much as possible at the moment.
I’m pretty sure my tenth blog anniversary was some time in January last year, but I don’t remember if I remembered at the time. Back to the biscuits! X

I wish I could avoid the outside, Eryl, but I have an over energetic young dog… my life wouldn’t be worth living if I didn’t trudge the muddy lanes each day – it is hell out there.
