It is November 2nd and of course the weather here is glorious….
Mud??? What mud???
Remember this view back in July look at it now that it’s November!!! I thought I ought to redress the balance as I’m always complaining about the endless rivers of mud, but sometimes… often…it is beautiful here.

I suspect its one of the benefits of global warming but there you. It certainly looks lovely and I can just imagine having a lovely stroll through those fields thinking noble thoughts and possibly munching on a sausage roll or other emergency snack !

WE need to hire a snack guru who can give us the inside track on “Snacks for every weather” because a mouthful of something cheerful can often push aside the worst of weathers to reveal hidden sunshine. That is my thought anyway, which I shared at my last job interview ha ha ha

I went back and viewed your July photo. Cloudy, however what I noticed was the brown dried-out looking field. Now the field is green and yellow. Much more alive. Is it a crop that is planted for winter? Just curious. I don’t suspect you have farming knowledge but thought I would ask anyway.

Hello Bill, apologies for my late reply…. I have been locked in the library studying crop rotation to answer your query…. I think a variety of crops adds valuable nutrients to the soil…. it is a long walk to the library.

Weather people are hysterically telling things about snow, sleet and whatnot for the next days to come – I do not believe them liars !
The mustard, as my very small agricultural knowledge reaches, will be ploughed under.
I think it serves as something to better the earth, the soil. It may be a kind of grain after that growing.
Yes, it would be nice to have the same shot in winter, I hope you can get it.
The Franconian fields are nice & groomed, but they already stored tons & tons of Zuckerrüben on the sides of them fields. All this stuff will be transported soon by trucks – the roads I have to travel will soon be rivers of mud, slippery, brown, & treacherous, with the constant bonk-bonk-bonk of mud-clumps banging against the wheel wells, ach the things one does for a living …

We have very odd weather at the moment, one day brilliant sunshine the next torrential rain, the ground is soggy but the river is low, and it’s freezing! I’m hoping for a good solid dump of snow this winter, the last two have been disturbingly mild.
