Mud??? What mud???

Remember this view back in July look at it now that it’s November!!! I thought I ought to redress the balance as I’m always complaining about the endless rivers of mud, but sometimes… often…it is beautiful here.

We have had some beautiful days here in London over the past few weeks, as well – unfortunately today, it’s back to “murk”. Jx

We have a beef herd in a neighbouring field if that’s any help, Jon?!
It has been so nice here that even the lawn has had a trim – ’bout time to.

Looks lovely, Scarlet. High time you got the best of the weather … it’s gone glum around here. Bath mat and wellington boot developments to come, eh? I am all agog.

It is indeed, Cousin Batarde! And I have news!! A little progress has been made. Only a little, there is still much to be done and you know what a distractible lazy baggage I am… where was I… oh yes… being distracted.

A house for all the seasons, Mr Devine…. I can’t wait to get this view when it snows. We don’t often get snow here though….but I have a snowy feeling about this winter.

Absolutely Gorgeous!!! How very picturesque and charming! Stunning skies, marvelous blooms, and a character rich house! Beautiful! Such lively, thriving, vibrant colors! I am mesmerized! I can almost see Nanny McPhee magically gliding in!

Any chance those wild mustard taste good? Just curious…

This is a very good question, Mr Swings, does the mustard taste good? And more to the point, is it good for colds? I have a filthy cold and all I can see out my window this morning is a heavy cloak of murk. So much intense murk. I want the sun back.

I suspect its one of the benefits of global warming but there you. It certainly looks lovely and I can just imagine having a lovely stroll through those fields thinking noble thoughts and possibly munching on a sausage roll or other emergency snack !

WE need to hire a snack guru who can give us the inside track on “Snacks for every weather” because a mouthful of something cheerful can often push aside the worst of weathers to reveal hidden sunshine. That is my thought anyway, which I shared at my last job interview ha ha ha

Oh dear! I think more research needs to be done before you potter off to interviews, Mr Ducks…. then again if you’d fibbed you may have ended up with a whole truck load of bakery products!

I went back and viewed your July photo. Cloudy, however what I noticed was the brown dried-out looking field. Now the field is green and yellow. Much more alive. Is it a crop that is planted for winter? Just curious. I don’t suspect you have farming knowledge but thought I would ask anyway.

Hello Bill, apologies for my late reply…. I have been locked in the library studying crop rotation to answer your query…. I think a variety of crops adds valuable nutrients to the soil…. it is a long walk to the library.

Doesn’t British TV still have a regular show regarding crop rotation? I recall seeing a scrabble tournament broadcasted once – so exciting it cured my jet-lag.

But British fields are supposed to be seas of mud from October onwards. How dare you suggest this isn’t the case? Kindly find some mud-saturated fields immediately.

I have found the muddy fields and murky skies, Nick. If I took a picture today I would be presenting you with a grey blob. It is vile. I am not going out there.

Weather people are hysterically telling things about snow, sleet and whatnot for the next days to come – I do not believe them liars !
The mustard, as my very small agricultural knowledge reaches, will be ploughed under.
I think it serves as something to better the earth, the soil. It may be a kind of grain after that growing.
Yes, it would be nice to have the same shot in winter, I hope you can get it.
The Franconian fields are nice & groomed, but they already stored tons & tons of Zuckerrüben on the sides of them fields. All this stuff will be transported soon by trucks – the roads I have to travel will soon be rivers of mud, slippery, brown, & treacherous, with the constant bonk-bonk-bonk of mud-clumps banging against the wheel wells, ach the things one does for a living …

I love that top photo, it would be great as a huge framed print.
We have very odd weather at the moment, one day brilliant sunshine the next torrential rain, the ground is soggy but the river is low, and it’s freezing! I’m hoping for a good solid dump of snow this winter, the last two have been disturbingly mild.
So glad you have the bath mat in place, X

Hello, Eryl, apologies for my late response. Ghastly weather here today – that horrible fine rain that soaks you through to the bone as soon as you step out in it. And I have a cold.
I’m chuffed that you like the picture!! I would love to get a print of it. It would certainly cheer the place up on grey days like today.

I have a new blog icon somewhere, Mr Mags, if this is what you mean? I have been away being industrious this week 🙂 I’ve fiddled a little with this blog and I have made a new one that is purely calligraphy. It’s taken me flipping ages and it still isn’t finished. There is a link somewhere….
